2007 CYLC Youth Leadership Camp

 

CYLC Mission Statement

To provide direction, leadership and guidance while building confidence through enhancing communication and team building skills in aspiring Chinese American youth.  To prepare Chinese American young leaders for the main stream community and reinforce their pride in being Chinese American.

 

CYLC Camp Objective

To provide the youth a safe environment to build up friendships, cooperation, and social skills among group activities.  Through the activities youth should learn self discipline and communication skills to empower them to take responsibility for their behavior.  Encourage youth for creative expression to find conflict solution, collaborate with peers, accountability and trust.  To strengthen their confident of goal setting and decision making through the camp activities and team-building.

 

CYLC date:   July 16th (Monday) to July 20th (Friday), 2007

CYLC location:  Austin College – Sherman, Texas.

 

Activities:  Leadership Training – Self awareness, personal characteristic analyzing, team building, brainstorming, project designing, presentation skill, communication model, result evaluating, a thorough series of leadership courses and activities. 

            Group Activities – Leadership workshop, team games, etiquette, physical activities, dance, music, arts and crafts, swimming, and talent show

                      Cultural Programs – Chinese painting, calligraphy, dance, and culture classes

 

Registration:  (3/1/2007 - 6/15/2007)

  1. Fill out the application form.   
  2. Copy of medical insurance card front and back
  3. One check for $300 pay to CYLC, One check for $50 deposit

- Camp fee Includes $20 non refundable registration fee

- $5 discount before May 15 for early registration, $5 discount for 2nd campers in same family

Notice:     

Ř    Return of any incomplete registration may cause delay; CYLC will not be responsible for disqualified application.

   Please check carefully before submitting registration. 

1.      Registration form (Include counselor application if you want to apply.)

2.       Health Insurance  (copy of insurance card front and back)

3.       Medical Release Form & Activity Permission Slip

4.       Camp fee $300.00, Deposit $50.00.  The deposit will be returned, as long as the camper obeys and has no record of camp rule violation. Pay by money order or personal check.  (A Bounced Check will disqualify the camper and the registration will be returned.  You will be responsible for all returned checks fees for our bank and yours.)

Check title is CYLC.  Please issue separate checks for Camp fee and Deposit (Write the

Camper’s name on the checks)

5.       Camp rules have Chinese and English versions.  Please read carefully. 

      Both the parent and the camper must sign the camp rules.

6.       CYLC will send out notice for the camp direction, camper luggage requirement and preparations.

7.   Counselor interview:  5/19    1:00PM Dallas Chinese Community  

     Center.   Counselor application due on 5/16.

      All teaching assistants, counselors and assistant counselors require:

     * 5/16 completed registration, submitted counselor application, resume, and proposal. 

             5/19 interview day has no walk-in registration for all candidates.

    8.   CYLC provides school bus on 7/16 8:30AM at Dallas Chinese Community Center, parents are 

responsible to pick up the camper on 7/20 at Austin College after final performance.
