"ASIAN AMERICAN CIVIL RIGHTS IN THE POST 9/11 ERA"
Dear OCA Members and Friends:
You are invited to an opporunity to take some leadership workshops for adults. Please see the link for detailed information. You know, leadership workshops are not just for people who wants to be senators and presidents. It is for all of us to be more effective in our lives. How do you talk with your boss and children without yelling and still get your points across? How does the way you were raised affect the way you see and react to your work and family environment?
The keynote speaker at lunch, John Tateishi, is the National President of JACL (Japanese American Citizen's League--the Japanese American counterpart of OCA). He will be speaking on the Civil Rights after 911. I hope you all will come out and support him and hear what he has to say.
There are 8 topic workshops, titles include: Media Access, Understanding Your Cultural Values, Assertiveness Training, Managing Effective Collaboration, Personal Branding, Presentation etc etc. I know you will find a few workshop that will interest or benefit you both professionally or personally. Some of them will also give you some thoughts as to how you may want to raise your kids as they will ultimately enter the world of adults in America.
I can tell you these workshops are done by professionals. Several of them will be flying in from different parts of the country.
If you are interested in attending, you can sign up online with a credit card.
Because of my involvement in the institute, they are giving OCA members a discounted rate of $25. If you are not an OCA member, you can join OCA (www.ocadfw.org or call me) and take advantage of the special rate. It is a great organization and there will be other discounts and opportunities in the future....including a Free picnic with food and bounce house (or whatever you call those) for the whole family on Oct 17th.
John Y. Tateishi, National President Japanese American Citizens League
Paul Hunker, Department of Homeland Security
James Aker, Federal Bureau of Investigation
Mohamed Elmougy, Council on Islamic American Relations DFW
